We have not participated in any ASHRAE shows in many, many, years. There is no record other than Norm had started shaving so maybe it was 1987. We called it quits because we became tired of kicking copycat competitors out of our booth! The final straw was a draftsman who had the nerve to visit with a pad and a complete set of drafting tools. (He could not carry his drafting table so he used a large clip board). When he started to measure one of our products Norm politely asked what he was doing? He replied that his boss had sent him over to detail one of our new designs. We believe he survived.
It was not all bad; one day a big Italian guy named Pat Lama wandered over with a Korfund sticker on his jacket and rocked on the balls of his feet until Norm noticed him. Since Pat looked so nonchalant, he was obviously looking for a job. Norm asked, and Pat responded in his thick Bronx accent “ya god it”, and he turned out to be a great asset right up to his retirement.
The convention is at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center in New York City from January 21st to the 23rd. We know many you will be in town so we thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to visit with our friends. Please stop by and see us at Booth #8702.
We look forward to seeing you.
